As society becomes more affluent people become more generous and giving of their time. Many people from all walks of life find that a great way to show their gratitude about their own good fortune decides that they would like to give something back to the community to those who are less fortunate. These are people that become volunteers for a variety of helping organizations according to the volunteer’s abilities, desires, and the community’s needs.
An Operational Emergency Center is a great idea and a fantastic place for someone that wants to volunteer to begin his search for the place where he will fit in best and that needs him most. One place in particular which is found on the internet is called Volunteer Match. This online community was begun in 1994 by four volunteers with MBAs whose dream was to begin an online nonprofit to promote community involvement. By the year 2008 this site had over 6 million users, creating strong partnerships to strengthen and better society as a whole.
